What Are You Hungry For? A Women's Workshop with special instructor Sarahjoy Marsh

Friday, October 1 - Sunday, October 3

There are hungers in the psyche that cannot be fed with food. There are hungers of the spirit that cannot be quelled through strategies of food management. When these hungers of the heart get confused with hunger for food or strategies for food management, we slowly dull our capacity to rest in the innate wisdom and love that is the center of a sacred life. This workshop offers relief. Through psycho-educational presentations on the cycle of addiction and the nature of shame, exercises to develop communication skills, non-violent communication and “breathe-able boundaries”, and with the support of yoga, meditation and pranayama, we will explore these complex disorders in the spirit of sisterhood. Wings and Water: Two Dog's 2011 Yoga and Qigong Retreat

with Annie Stocker and Martha Hurwitz

Wed. Mar. 16 - Sun. Mar. 20, 2011

(short option Fri. Mar 18 - Sun. Mar. 20)

Harmony Hill Retreat Center

The practices of both Yoga and Qigong gently bring health, balance and harmony to our physical, emotional and spiritual lives. Like the wings of a bird, these practices help us gracefully soar above the clamor in our lives. Like bodies of water, both practices bring movement, nourishment and beauty into our daily lives.

Two Dog is pleased to house both ancient forms, one from India, the other from China, to our community. We're also pleased to explore the riches and qualities of both forms, side by side, like inquisitive neighbors. Each year, the studio offers a retreat in which practitioners of either form--or both--can spend relaxing, enriching time together, deepening their own practice and learning about the other.

March 16 - 20, 2011, marks the 2nd of these retreats, and the first in the Northwest. Join studio owner and yoga teacher Annie Stocker, and Soaring Crane Qigong instructor Martha Hurwitz for five lovely days of instruction, contemplation and fun at the beautiful Harmony Hill Retreat Center on Hood Canal. Our rental of Harmony Hill supports their much-lauded wellness programs, offered free of charge for people with cancer.

The Wings and Water Retreat features:

With a focus on deepening our practices, this retreat is open to all those who have had prior experience in their form. For yoga, this means three months of regular practice, and the sense of being at least a strong beginner. For qigong, this means completion of the Level One training, either at Two Dog or elsewhere. There will be ample opportunity at Two Dog both in fall in winter to prepare for this retreat.

Specifics about cost, scholarship, and deadlines will be posted by September 1. A discount will be offered to those paying full tuition by November 1. Space is limited to 18 yoga students and 18 qigong students. Contact Annie or Martha if you have questions.

Two Dog Yoga studio surpassed my expectations. The method of teaching goes beyond the conscious; it goes to my cell memory without me having to remember what the teacher said last class. Yoga is my spiritual practice and the teachers' devotion and years of knowledge keep my yoga experience in the divine. It truly is a place to honor equally the triad of mind, body and spirit.
