Yoga

Ongoing throughout the year, Two Dog's Gentle, Level I, Level II and All Levels classes are offered in weekly series with occasional breaks. Generally, series run eight weeks. We recommend participating in a full series to enjoy the benefits and continuity of a weekly connection with your teacher and fellow students. Missed classes can be made up in another class of an equivalent level within the same series dates. You also have the option of dropping in or buying a punch card. See Schedule & Fees for current dates, offerings and payment information.

We encourage first-time yoga students to begin with the Intro series. This sets the best course for a well-informed path in yoga at Two Dog. If you are unable to attend an Intro series, you're welcome to start with a Level I or Gentle class instead.

Class Descriptions

Intro To Yoga -Take the first steps into yoga in a safe and supportive environment. Class size is limited so each student receives personal attention. In six weekly classes, students are introduced to the history and present day forms of yoga, while learning basic asana (poses) that strengthen and stretch. At the end of an Intro series, students are well-prepared for a Level I or Gentle class.

Gentle Yoga -A slow-paced class for students with injuries or physical restrictions, or for those who want gentle stretching and strengthening exercises. Classes often use chairs.

Level 1 -For beginners seeking to explore and establish a solid foundation in the basic yoga poses. Emphasis is on developing an understanding of alignment. Teachers safely guide students to expand their strength and flexibility.

Level 2 -Students with a solid foundation in the basics of asana continue to refine and deepen their experience of yoga, including backbends, inversions and Vinyasa (Flow Yoga).

All Levels -A class for strong beginners through intermediate students, exploring all aspects of yoga including pranayama (breath), asanas and meditation in ways that support students to engage at their own level of skill and experience.

Restorative Yoga -In restorative yoga we use props (bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets) to support the body in long held positions. Holding poses for longer allows a deeper opening and internal massage of our organs and fascia. Postures are adapted to student's ability. Ease and relaxation are an important part of the practice.

Yoga Nidra -The practice of Yoga Nidra is an ancient and sacred way of cultivating deep relaxation and healing for our nervous system. It is designed to melt tension on all levels and help us access our most creative and authentic self by removing our habitual stress patterns. Regular sleep doesn’t resolve all our tension but by actively participating in the process of Yoga Nidra relaxation can settle into all layers of your being. The Process is simple…you lie down for 20-30 minutes and allow yourself to be guided through a systematic relaxation process. Yoga Nidra has been used to manage stress, insomnia, anxiety and many other issues.

I appreciate the sensitivity to each individual's levels and needs in class; we all feel special... Over my years at the studio, I've had classmates who were in their 80s all the way down to teens, and the class is accessible to all in between....
